Berry Good For You

Boysenberries are high in antioxidants which protect the body against the harmful effects of free radicals and other reactive oxidants.  Boysenberries have a high level of anthocyanins – which causes their deep red colour - which give the berries their high antioxidant properties.

Anthocyanins increase the antioxidants in the blood and stop LDLs (the primary transport vehicle for cholesterol synthesised in the liver) from becoming oxidised. When cholesterol becomes oxidised it forms plaque that can block arteries causing health problems like heart disease and diabetes.
